SBB-AV-700D-SYS-7001 Cobham Aviator 700D System, MIL, with 7001 High Gain Antenna
Aviator 700 versus 700D – The main difference is that the AVIATOR 700D is a specific software and hardware version of the AVIATOR 700 system that meets higher certification standards, DO-178B Level D and DO-254 Level D, which are more stringent and crucial for critical flight operations compared to the AVIATOR 700’s Level E certification. This makes the 700D suitable for more critical data and voice services, including FANS/CPDLC(supports future air navigation systems and controller-pilot data link communications), and supports features like Inmarsat SwiftBroadband for the aircraft’s high-speed data and voice services such as the Wi-Fi hotspot.
AVIATOR 700Certification: Approved to DO-178B Level E and DO-254 Level E. General Use: The “AVIATOR 700” name can be used generally to cover both versions, but it refers to the less-certified system when not specifying the 700D.
AVIATOR 700D – Certification: Approved to DO-178B Level D and DO-254 Level D. This is a higher level of safety and reliability, indicating the system is suitable for safety-critical functions.
The Swift Broadband Unit is a compact, high-performance module designed for seamless satellite communication integration on aircraft. It supports up to eight simultaneous voice calls and provides IP Packet or streaming SwiftBroadband data. With built-in Ethernet connectivity, a router featuring six ethernet interfaces, and a wireless access point, it allows multiple devices to connect effortlessly. This lightweight, two MCU unit is energy-efficient, requires no forced cooling, and integrates easily with existing systems. FAA PMA certified, it’s ideal for reliable in-flight connectivity.

The AVIATOR 700D system is comprised of four main units:
  • The 405035A-THD Satellite Data Unit (SDU)),
  • the 405014A-THD High Power Amplifier (HPA),
  • the 405040A-THD Satellite BGAN Unit (SBU) and
  • the 405013A Type F Diplexer and Low Noise Amplifier (DLNA).
700D SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The Cobham AVIATOR 700D system is engineered to take advantage of the latest technologies, such as, SwiftBroadband for increased reliability and connectivity.
The SwiftBroadband Background Data and Standard Voice channel allow users to access a shared data channel and a compressed high-quality voice channel at the same time.
The Aviator 700D System is a mounted Aeronautical Communication System supporting simultaneous voice and data communication though Inmarsat BGAN satellite service.
The standard 700D system components consist of the following Items:
 SDU (Satellite Data Unit) 405035A-THD (TT-5035A-THD)
 HPA (High Power Amplifier) 405014A-THD (TT-5014A-THD)
 SBU (Satellite Broadband Unit) 405040A-THD (TT5040A-THD)
 Type-F DLNA (Diplexer and Low Noise Amplifier) 405013A (TT-5013A)
 HGA (High Gain Antenna) e.g. 405007A (TT-5007A-THR)
 RF-Splitter 405038A-003 (TT-5038A-003)
 RF-Coupler 405038A-004 (TT-5038A-004)
AVIATOR 700D is an Inmarsat SwiftBroadband HGA (Class 6) System supporting:
• Single Channel SwiftBroadband
• Circuit-switched standard voice
• Background IP up to 432 kbps
• Streaming IP at 8/16/32/64/128 kbps
• SB X-Stream services
• ISDN service or 3.1 kHz audio
Inmarsat Satellite Land Earth Station – RAN Cobham AVIATOR
Description of Equipment:
The 405013A Type F Diplexer and Low Noise Amplifier (DLNA) supports the SwiftBroadband aeronautical satellite communications service.
The transceiver meets the applicable requirement of RTCA/DO-210D “Minimum Operational Performance Standard for Geosynchronous Orbit Aeronautical Mobile Satellite Services (AMSS) Avionics”.
The 405040A-THD (SBU) & The 405035A-THD (SDU) supports Inmarsat SwiftBroadband signals using BPSK, QPSK and 16QAM.The SDU/SBU signals are combined and amplified for transmission by the 405014A-THD (HPA).
The AVIATOR 700D is a unique multi-channel solution.
It combines global voice, fax and data capabilities of the Inmarsat Classic Aero, SwiftBroadband and Swift64 service.
The AVIATOR 700D system provides one baseband communication channel capable of supporting simultaneous full-duplex of SwiftBroadband functionality.
The System functions in the 1525 – 1559MHz receive band and 1626.5 – 1660.5MHz transmit band.
